The Great British Bake Off Is Back

The bakers are back in the tent tonight as a new series of The Great British Bake Off begins. The beloved baking show returns, meaning showstoppers and soggy bottoms, and maybe even a Hollywood handshake or two!

With cakes, biscuits, bread and more set to be on the menu for another year, we want to take a look at how you can create some cooking creations of your own in our range cookers.

A range cooker offers so many features and functions for the home baker. Style, size, fuel type, and not to mention all the added modes you can select, brings a wide choice to make sure you have the right cooker for your baking needs. A range cooker gives you bigger ovens, which often have multifunctional settings to allow you to use them in different ways for different dishes. There is also extra space dedicated to certain elements of your cooking, such as drawers and grills, for flexible baking.

Whichever it may be, we can guarantee you will make some very impressive bakes with your range cooker. Here are a few ways you can use certain settings to your baking advantage…

ILVE E3 Temperature Control and Baking Setting

ILVE range cookers truly pay close attention to the technology being used within their products. With E3 technology, you can carefully adjust the temperature in 5°C increments, from 30°C to 300°C. This feature is unique to ILVE’s range cookers and means consumers are no longer faced with inaccurate cooking conditions.

Alongside this, there is a choice of 15 functions on an ILVE range cooker. As well as quick start and rapid heat up, which heats to 200 degrees in 6 minutes, there is the very important Baking setting. This baking function distributes the heat evenly to ensure an even, moist bake every time. Use this with the steam discharge vent, allowing you to control the humidity of the double oven by retaining the moisture when baking bread, to create some perfect bakes with an ILVE.

The Roma 100cm 6 Burner offers copious cooking capacity and A+ rated energy efficiency in a premium and very refined package. The versatile 65 litre multifunction main oven offers the impressive Baking mode, with the 57 litre second oven offering non-fanned cooking and grilling functions. A soft-close full width storage drawer provides ample room for all trays and accessories, and the digital programmer provides full control of the main oven timings.

Rangemaster Rapid Response, Browning Element and Proving Drawer

Keen bakers will welcome the exciting use of a bread proving drawer, available on Rangemaster Deluxe models. This unique feature to range cookers reaches temperature of 40°C, so you can rest and rise dough prior to your baking. This drawer can also be used to melt ingredients such as butter, rest meat or warm up plates ready for serving (it also doubles up as a great storage drawer).

Another feature on a Rangemaster range cooker is their Rapid Response setting. Rapid Response pre-heats the oven 30% faster than a fan oven, so you don’t have to waste any time waiting for it to be at the correct temperature before cooking. When using the oven, the handy Browning Element function uses the element in the top of the oven only. It is a very useful function for bakes such as a lemon meringue pie, browning the top perfectly with the top element after being cooked.

The Elan Deluxe 110 features the incredibly handy bread proving drawer. Not just good to look at, this dual fuel Rangemaster improves on their standard specification by having a multifunction main oven offering a variety of heat sources for different dishes, plus the thoughtful proving drawer below the fanned oven. Its unwindowed doors, wire-wound handles and chunky controls give it a truly traditional kitchen presence with warmth and character.

Fanned Ovens

A fanned oven is perfect for baking as the fan circulates the heat, meaning the temperature should be constant throughout the oven.

  • Evenly baked cakes due to even heat distribution
  • Faster baking time
  • More energy efficient due to shorter cooking times
  • More suitable to cook multiple cakes at the same time as the oven will heat it as if it is a single dish

The Lacanche Cormatin comes in both classic and modern models. This compact model offers just as much as those that are larger but, despite being on a smaller scale, can still provide professional performance. On the Cormatin Modern 70 is a 73 litre gas oven that is paired with a powerful three burner gas hob. The choice of cooking with or without a fan is all yours through the use of a simple switch. There is also a storage drawer below the oven. The Cormatin Classic offers the same compelling cooking credentials as the Modern but with a more traditional look.
