Fisher & Paykel, a renowned name in the world of home appliances, has been crafting innovative and reliable products for over 80 years.
Originating from New Zealand, this brand has built a reputation for blending sophisticated design with cutting-edge technology, making everyday life more comfortable and efficient. Known for their pioneering spirit, Fisher & Paykel introduced the world to the revolutionary DishDrawer™️ dishwasher and have continued to lead with their sustainable and user-centric innovations.
Whether it is their high-performance refrigerators, energy-efficient washing machines or stylish range cookers, Fisher & Paykel remains committed to enhancing the household experience with quality and elegance at the forefront.
In this blog, we will explore the history, achievements and standout products that define Fisher & Paykel's legacy in the appliance industry...
Where It All Began...
Fisher & Paykel's story began in 1934, when two enterprising men, Sir Woolf Fisher and Maurice Paykel, founded the company in Auckland, New Zealand. Initially, the company imported refrigerators, washing machines and radios, meeting the needs of a growing population with limited access to modern appliances. Their business model was simple yet effective: import, adapt and improve.
The post-war era saw Fisher & Paykel pivot from being importers to becoming manufacturers. This shift was driven by the opportunity and the demand for these home appliances. The company started producing its own line of refrigerators in the 1950's, laying the groundwork for future innovations.
Birth of the Range Cooker...
Fisher & Paykel introduced their first range cooker in the 1990s, a period marked by rapid technological advances and a growing emphasis on kitchen design. These range cookers were designed to be the heart of the kitchen, combining style, performance and durability.
The introduction of the AeroTech™️ system in their range cookers was a game-changer. This technology ensured even heat distribution throughout the oven, resulting in consistent cooking results. The innovation didn't stop there though - Fisher & Paykel continued to enhance their range cookers with features such as self-cleaning ovens, temperature control and sleek, modern designs.
These range cookers stand out not just for their advanced technology but also their design philosophy. This manufacturer truly believes that appliances should complement the lifestyle and aesthetic preferences of their users.
Their Classic range cookers, for example, offer a timeless design with modern functionalities. Available in various sizes and configurations, these cookers are equipped with a variety of cooking modes and a high-performance gas or induction cooktop. This versatility makes them ideal for both everyday and gourmet meal preparation.

The Classic style model employs a traditional bevelled door construction, elegant cylindrical door handle and towel rail, plus neat control knobs to lend some traditional character to this contemporary design.
This impressive range boasts an A-rated 140 litre oven, with F&P's AeroTech™️ system - twin fans for very even cooking. It offers nine functions, including pastry bake and pizza mode and there is also a very handy automatic rapid pre-heat function. An elegant and convenient sliding shelf makes basting, grilling and general access to your food so much easier, and four halogen lights ensure you have a clear view at all times.
On top you have the choice of a five-burner gas hob, with a central dual control burner giving you a superb range of heat, or an incredible induction hob, giving you five high quality induction zones that offer instant and immediate control along with dual SmartZones.
The bevelled front edge at the front of the hob has detailed control graphics, so there is no difficulty seeing these around the towel rail. For even better clarity the beautiful metal control knobs are cleverly back-lit with a red halo when active.
To the left, the circular hi-res display gives you precise temperature control over the oven, plus full automatic programming, audio feedback and automatic pre-sets. There is also a Sabbath mode, in which all alarms, lights and displays are deactivated for 80 hours, should you need it.
The Contemporary style models feature steel-clad doors, square-section door handle and elegant steel control knobs for a sleek and linear looking appliance. The clock/programmer becomes a stunning high resolution analogue display, with turned stainless steel outer bezel and simple controls.
Much like the specification of the Classic models, the impressive A-rated oven offers copious cooking capacity. It also employs F&P's AeroTech™️ system to promote even cooking throughout. There are nine functions, including Pastry Bake with pizza mode and there is also a very handy automatic rapid pre-heat function. The pyrolytic self-cleaning oven cycle breaks down food residue at a very high temperature, leaving a light ash that's easily removed with a damp cloth. The compartment below is a functioning warming drawer rather than simple storage, creating an extra space for all your cooking needs.
The single piece hotplate hosts either five gas burners or five high quality induction zones. The circular hi-res display gives you the precise temperature control over the oven plus full automatic programming, audio feedback and automatic pre-sets.
This twin version is designed for multi-shelf cooking with 70-litres of space in one cavity and another 41-litres in the other, providing ample room for a large family meal and all the side dishes.
The door and cavity cooling system keeps the heat inside these ovens perfectly, protecting your hands and surrounding cabinetry. Additionally, the non-tip shelves make it easy to get any dishes in and out of the oven.
It has seven functions, including Bake, Grill and Fan Forced, allowing you to use a variety of different cooking styles. With five powerful gas burners and the flexibility of the two convection ovens, this range cooker is certainly one to take a look at.
