Colour Trends for 2023
The colours that we choose to use in our homes, and particularly our kitchen, reflects our personality and style.
Whilst some prefer a timeless look, others will go bold with a vibrant colour. Choosing a colour for your kitchen is one of the most important considerations, influencing every decision such as flooring, cabinets, walls and even your appliances.
Each year, experts predict the colours of the year and present them within their colour forecast. Various paint brands’ in house colour experts and trend forecasters predict the colours you will be choosing for your interior, fashion and even technology for the year ahead. So which are the colour of 2023? Take a closer look at each chosen colour from some of the most popular paint brands and find some inspiration for yourself…
Pantone’s Viva Magenta
Pantone are recognised globally as a leading source of colour expertise, providing colour insights and solutions for all.
Viva Magenta is this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year, a highly anticipated colour prediction each year in the design world.
This hot shade of pink is described by Pantone as “a shade rooted in nature descending from the red family and expressive of a new signal of strength. Viva Magenta is brave and fearless, a pulsating colour whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration, writing a new narrative.” (Read more here on the Pantone website)
A power colour, this animated shade is a fine mixture between red and pink and makes a standout statement. Red is a power colour, and this is what makes it very different from the previous Pantone Colour of the Year for 2022, Very Peri.
Viva Magenta would work well as an accompaniment to a lighter colour, such as pale greys, blues or pastel colours. You could also try it with other shades of pink to create a really strong feel to the room.
This is the perfect colour for a range cooker, of course, with it making a true centrepiece within the room. It can be used spectacularly as a pop of colour, with the more understated going for light, neutral colours to surround it.
ILVE offer an amazing colour match service, using RAL Classic colours for hundreds of different range cooker possibilities for your kitchen. Developed in 1927, RAL has since been standardising and numbering colours into a named and numbered system. With this are some beautiful replacements if you are looking to add the stunning Viva Magenta to your home.
This ILVE Milano 120 induction, in a RAL colour chosen for its similarity to Viva Magenta (RAL code 470-5), appeals to those wanting a traditional look but still prefer their oven doors to have windows. Including their exclusive E3 technology and rotisserie feature with both ovens A-rated for energy efficiency. Its impressive seven zone induction hob really is very sophisticated, giving you high power, speed and instant control at your fingertips.

Wild Wonder by Dulux
“A positive, glowing tone, inspired by the natural world”
Dulux is a global leading brand of premium quality paint, with a wealth of products and services to help you find the colours that you will love within your home.
Encapsulating the feeling that being surrounded by nature can give us, this Colour of the Year has been chosen to bring a soft, warm feeling to a kitchen. A light, barley shade, Wild Wonder is a colour that can bring energy and positivity to a space, and can also work well with a host of other shades. It is both fresh and warm, with it working well with furniture in natural materials such as woods and stone. Transitioning through the seasons well, it overall creates a calm and cosy space.
Dulux has also created four accompanying colour palettes for this earthy shade – Lush (forest hues), Buzz (brights from the meadows), Raw (harvest shades) and Flow (seaside tones) to inspire and bring the outside world in.
For a similar look, try the shade Fawn with a Falcon range cooker. This light beige/tan colour is a soft colour choice for a home and is great as a centre appliance within a bright, neutral kitchen.
This Falcon 1092 Deluxe is a straightforward, solid range cooker. The 1092 Deluxe does away with the more domestic features like a timer/programmer and windowed doors, but as a result gives a more robust and focused user experience. On top of this dual fuel model is a spacious stainless steel hotplate, providing five professional-grade burners including a more powerful 5kW central burners. The oven doors open to reveal heavy duty oven shelves and racks, catalytic self clean oven liners and a high quality glide out grill tray and trivet.
Johnstone’s Vining Ivy
As part of the PPG Industries portfolio of brands, Johnstone’s has a long history as one of the UK’s foremost professional trade paint brands and has had a presence in the market since 1890.
Their colour Vining Ivy is a beautiful mix between blue and green, with a hint of teal and turquoise. Appealing to both contemporary and traditional interior designs, it would look great within a modern home or add a touch of character to a more classic property.
This colour would work perfectly with warm wooden tones, giving a restful and calming feel. Balancing the organic colours gives a pop of colour in a subtle way, without clashing with the overall style you have chosen. It can also provide a boost of energy to a busy kitchen, whilst at the same time creating a calming ambience.
It is important to also think about your lighting when using a colour like this. With bright, cooler lighting you are going to see the blue come out a lot more. In a room with warm lighting, the green will be more present so depending how you want the colour to be reflected will impact the way you dress the room with lighting.
Also in line with the ongoing green trend, the Mineral Green colourway from Rangemaster is designed to bring a sense of calm and tranquillity to your kitchen. Available across several of the Rangemaster models, including this Elise model, this shade looks stunning with a light kitchen with soft wooden flooring and natural light seeping through from various angles.
The Rangemaster Elise 90 captures the essence of classic French cooking and offers it with a contemporary style. The elegant facia features geometrically designed solid metal control knobs with a brushed chrome finish, which is also repeated on the towel rail, handles and plinth trim. A multifunction main oven (with integrated grill) and fanned tall second oven are complemented by a separate glide-out grill. This model does not feature a clock/timer to keep it similar to other “gastronomic” range cookers. On top, a five burner gas hob is enhanced by some beautifully detailed semi-gloss cast iron pan supports.
Farrow and Ball’s Bamboozle
Farrow and Ball is a British manufacturer of paints and wallpaper largely based upon historic colour palettes. They are particularly well known for the unusual names of their products.
Their newest colour, Bamboozle, is a flame-red, pushing the trends to create a beautiful accent colour. This spirited shade offers plenty of warmth and some earthy undertones. Red tones are trending, with impactful oranges and reds dominating the forecast for the year ahead.
A versatile hue, you can find so many different shades of red. From smoky to rich, deep tones, there are many ways to decorate with this bold colour. When many of us think of red, we imagine traditional and rustic. However, adding just a pop of glossy red into a contemporary kitchen is a very popular choice.
Lacanche offer the strong Cherry Red, a classic crimson shade which is perfect for enhancing the elegance of these impressive cookers. This Lacanche Citeaux Modern in this stunning colour is a popular choice. The Citeaux is a superb triple oven range cooker featuring a large main oven with a storage drawer beneath, a tall 49 litre convection (fanned) oven and a tall 85 litre simmer oven on the right-hand side. The three-burner hob on top allows space either side for two optional integrated hob elements for an additional price, allowing you to specific a hob with mixed functionality according to your needs (pictured here with the additional two zone induction hob on the right and the additional electric plancha on the left).
