Blue Monday Or Blue Cookers?
Today is known as “Blue Monday”, which some say is the most depressing day of the year. But not at Rangecookers.co.uk. We want to banish those blues and turn them into something wonderful…a brand new range cooker!
Choosing a coloured range cooker can be daring, especially if it is a bold colour such as blue. The colour blue is often associated with open spaces, freedom and inspiration. It can also be a calming colour, giving a soothing feeling of peace. Adding a relaxing tone to the busy feel of a kitchen can help us to escape from daily worries of life.
With a combination of Christmas blues, money worries and back to work mode leading many people to feel down, we want to turn those frowns upside down with our pick of some of the best blue range cookers we have to offer, plus how to incorporate the colour blue into your kitchen…
Incorporating Blue Into Your Kitchen Design
Blue is a great colour for a kitchen. A lighter shade of blue works best in smaller kitchens, bringing in the light levels and giving the space a cool, fresh finish. Dark blues will add a dramatic feel to a larger kitchen without compromising on the space you have, whilst being easily lightened with the right appliances. Versatile and becoming increasingly more popular, blue is a top choice for a kitchen colour scheme.
For a more permanent pop of colour, you can style coloured appliances into the room. In this case, a blue range cooker would be perfect as it can be matched with both light and dark features. White and pastel colours such as a light pink can complement both a dark and light shade of blue.
Going bold with dark blue kitchen cabinets makes a striking impression. The contrast of the dark blue with the lighter wooden worktops achieves a lighter look, whilst still using a stainless steel range cooker as a centrepiece. Balancing the dark shade with undressed windows and open shelving gives a nice airy and bright look.
Blue Range Cookers
There are many different ways to style a range cooker to make it a statement in your home. With an abundance of colours to choose from, plus styles, fuel types and sizes, we want to show you just how beautiful blue can be…

Smeg
Smeg offer the stunning Pastel Blue as a finish on their Victoria models. A paler shade of blue, Pastel Blue could be considered calming due to its similarity to the sky and the ocean. Its gentle appearance makes it a very versatile colour to use for a range cooker.
The Smeg Victoria has a retro appearance, but manages to look at home in both a modern or traditional setting. This dual fuel model features TWO 61 litre triple glazed multifunction ovens, each with a variety of fanned, conventional and grilling functions as well as Smeg’s Vapor Clean system, which uses steam to help clean the oven interior. The dedicated grill is rather nice too, giving you a heavy gauge, full width glide-out grill tray and adjustable height positions. A pair of telescopic runners feature in the main oven below the grill too. This cavity can be controlled using the auto programmer if desired. There is also a useful storage drawer to keep a few oven trays and accessories, which include a pizza stone and a teppanyaki griddle.
AGA’s Dartmouth Blue is very reminiscent of the sea, bringing a beautiful rich blue to the AGA collection. Contemporary but also classic, this colour is timeless and will look fantastic in a selection of settings, including both high gloss and wooden designs.
AGA Rangemaster named this shade Dartmouth Blue after the shade you see when the sea meets the sky. It is also the perfect shade for the popular AGA Masterchef Deluxe.
Pressed from heavy-gauge steel and lusciously enamelled, the chunky bevelled doors feature very characteristic AGA towel rail handles, and this welcome simplicity is echoed by the cylindrical control knobs above. This understated approach suits the brand, but do not be deceived into thinking this is just a Rangemaster with an AGA badge. The build quality and specification of the Masterchef is much more enhanced. The materials and components throughout are noticeably sturdy, for example the gas hob uses the high-grade brass-bound burners designed to give professional power and endurance, and there is a meat probe in the main oven to allow you to cook meat and poultry by target temperature rather than time, giving perfect results.
